Dr. Khaled Rafiqpoor was invited as a guest expert on Midden-Limburg op Zondag!

In the interview, he shared the practical story behind LarynxLock, starting from early, hands-on attempts to address laryngeal mask leakage during routine procedures. In the beginning, he experimented with a temporary tape method fondly dubbed the “Rondje van Khaled” (“Khaled’s Loop/Circle) by colleagues, which eventually inspired the design of a simple, non-invasive, and effective solution for airway leaks during anesthesia.

He also discussed where LarynxLock is headed next as the device moves beyond initial hospital adoption. The upcoming roadmap includes exploring applications in pre-hospital and ambulance care, alongside international research collaborations for formal clinical validation, such as ongoing work with researchers in the Netherlands and airway management experts internationally.
